About Botox
Most people are familiar with Botox, an injectable treatment to reduce the appearance of crows feet and deep lines between the eyebrows. What you might not know, though, is that Botox can be used in TMJ therapy to relieve migraine headaches and facial pain.
Much like cosmetic dentistry, choosing the right practitioner, one who is trained and certified, will ensure a safe and effective treatment. A highly trained and experienced cosmetic dentist in the Chicago area, Dr. Khanna is intimately familiar with the structure and musculature of the face, making him uniquely qualified to effectively inject Botox® Cosmetic for results that are natural looking and lasting.
Botox For TMJ Dysfunction
Many people suffer from mild to moderate levels of facial pain, whether it’s from headaches, migraines, stress, their bite or TMJ dysfunction (TMD). Botox® is injected into the affected head and neck muscles. The active ingredient in Botox® blocks nerve signals and relaxes the muscles that contribute to facial pain.
Botox® treatment only takes a few minutes and the results last up to three months. With a series of treatments, some patients will be able to “retrain” their muscles to relax and sustain results over longer periods of time. As an added benefit, you may notice an improvement in the appearance of wrinkles!
Botox Cosmetic For Fine Lines & Wrinkles
Botox Cosmetic will reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscles beneath the skin that have become conditioned to contracting from years of squinting and frowning. Botox is currently the only FDA approved treatment for crows feet and noticeable frown lines between the brows. Dr. Khanna can skillfully place injections in the muscles of the area to be treated for optimal results. The number of injections will be dependent on the severity of the lines or wrinkles and number of areas to be treated.
Botox Treatment: What to Expect
During an initial complimentary consultation Dr. Khanna will examine your facial aesthetics, discuss your personal concerns and make treatment recommendations. Botox treatments are generally brief, with little discomfort and no down time.
Patients can expect tenderness, slight inflammation and redness in the treated area which can last for a day or two. Results will gradually appear in the initial 30 days and can last for several months. Repeat treatment as needed will keep you looking and feeling your best.
Dermafill Facial Filler
Dermafill is a volumizing facial filler with the active ingredient Hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance that naturally exists in your body. HA facial fillers effectively reduce unwanted wrinkles around the cheeks, nose and lips to contour the face and restore volume to the skin.
By boosting the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid, Dermafill increases volume and almost instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The gel formula of Dermafill is tissue-friendly, closely resembling the body’s natural HA. Dermafill is long lasting, but not permanent. For most patients, results last up to six months.
